TEV Protease Cleavage Site

Abstract

This site is recognised by the TEV Protease which has a high sequence specificity. One of the main uses of this protein is to remove affinity tags from purified recombinant fusion proteins, which is why we included it in our HESTIA designs as a way to remove the 10xHis in (BBa_K4439012). It also makes it relatively non-toxic in vivo as the recognized sequence scarcely occurs in proteins (Parks TD and al. 1994).
